| LabStats not only collects vital data about your computer lab usage, it also gives you revealing statistics and graphs about current lab usage (real-time), and usage history for each lab. We have compiled here a collection of sample graphs and screenshots to show you what you can expect from LabStats. |
| After installing the LabStats server, two separate web sites are made available. One is the Web Admin, used for configuration, and the other is the Public site. Each has a separate home page, and only the Web Admin requires a login. |
The home page of the Public site contains stats about current lab usage, and shows real-time numbers in a table like the one to the right.
Using this table format, you can tell at a glance what is currently happening in all your computer labs, since this data is real-time. Lab aides can tell students which labs have open seats, and students can check the status of a lab before making a trek across campus. |
For a more readable format, each lab in this table is a hyperlink to a stylish pie chart showing the same data. See a sample chart here.
Each time you generate a pie chart, you will also receive a custom URL to generate that chart, so that you can display the chart on your own web page. For example, you may already have a page dedicated to computer lab hours and information, you could display the charts on that page in <img> tags, or link to each one separately. For more information about how to do that, see our FAQ. |
The home page of the Public site also displays the table on the left, which allows users to quickly view usage history of any lab or of all labs combined, using default time periods.
These graphs, as with all graphs generated by LabStats, also have a custom URL that allows you to display them on other pages of your choosing. The URLS for these graphs will always give you the most current day, week, month, or year, starting from the current day and time, and going back the amount of each period.
This data is also real-time, and requires no batch processing or manual intervention. The data is simply there waiting for your query.
LabStats was specifically engineered to perform queries and produce graphs quickly, even with hundreds of computer labs and years worth of data. |
The custom history section also displays on the home page of the Public site, and gives users even more power to analyze the data. Some examples of custom graphs that might be used are:
>> Analyzing an entire semester's usage for a lab.
>> Combining labs to show all the labs owned by the Biology Department.
>> Viewing one or more open labs during finals week.
These custom graphs will also generate URLs to recreate themselves, and can easily be included in end-of-year reports, budget proposals, and more. |
